The Shins seem rather like an anachronism today. In a world awash with forward-thinking music, bands as steadfastly retromanic as James Mercer’s bunch ought to struggle to find a position.
‘Simple Song’, though, is a nice reminder of the joys of simple emotion expertly conveyed. It’s well produced, it’s catchy, and it’s probably exactly what long-suffering Shins fans were hoping for.
‘Simple Song’ is taken from The Port of Morrow, due out in March.
