The product of a relationship which blossomed at the respected Pimlico Music School – four of their six members met there – London based neo-soul act, The Hics are offering up some of the capital’s most elegant sounds in 2013.
First came ‘Lines’ followed more recently by the organically swooning ‘Cold Air’, the sextet combining subtly fragrant sax with mellow synths and palpitating bass to rapturous effect. Their debut EP, Tangle, is due out 19 August with its lead track offering more downtempo charm in the fluttering twin vocals of Sam Evans and Roxana Dayette as well as tender hand percussion, despondent guitar strokes and pining keys. James Blake fans, meet your favourite new band.
The Hics play their debut headline show at London’s Electrowerkz on 1 August.
