Listen: The Hanged Man - "Into The Night" [Premiere]
One of Sweden's busiest compatriots, Rebecka Rolfart - of Those Dancing Days and Vulkano - has returned with another project. This time, instead of indie-pop or lo-fi punk, Rolfart has scoured her innards to form the solo "dark pop/cinematic psychedelia" guise, The Hanged Man.
Rolfart's first tune under this moniker, "First Time Dreaming", was released last month, but now she's preparing her debut EP. Titled First Quarter Moon, it's six tracks and approximately 25 minutes in length, and features this brand new cut, "Into The Night", streaming now, exclusively on Best Fit.
"Into The Night" smacks of '80s wells of emotion; it's all smooth pads, glistening Spanish guitars and twinkling synths. There's a jigger of malice in Rolfart's cocktail - a potent kick to be found - and though it may sound Molly Beanland-sweet at time, the talented Swede isn't afraid to lug danger along for the ride.
