Having Bella Union boss, Simon Raymonde, proclaim your first ever recording his ‘Track of the Year’ would be enough to negatively inflate the ego of many an unsigned act. Not Newcastle trio Tessera Skies though, who today follow up the acclaimed stargazing pop of ‘Soliloquy of an Astronaut’ with another masterfully delicate piece of music called ‘Milieu’.
Produced by the mercurially talented Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, the track dips a toe into the innocence of childhood with staggering finesse. Heart-fluttering piano chords reach out, tentatively grasping at reverb laden guitars and jazz influenced drum patterns. ‘Milieu’ succeeds in capturing a snapshot of Sigur Ros’ sensitive, glacier melting dream pop whilst providing a tantalizing window into the world of the North East’s most talked about new act.
