Listen: Tei Shi – “Nevermind The End” (LIL SAD Remix)
If, like us, you are of the opinion that Tei Shi is brilliant already (and trust us, her debut EP, Saudade, certainly proved it), brace yourself. While the track’s original guise proved wickedly seductive, LIL SAD cranks up “Nevermind The End”‘s danceability to alarming levels, taking meticulous care not to discard any of Tei Shi’s sumptuous allure.
Essentially, her haunting croon remains, albeit chopped, screwed and reassembled in a deliciously complex manner, concealed within the gooey crevices of syrupy beats and stomping percussion that submerge it. All previous traces of melancholy are washed away, ushering in subtle spasms of euphoria.
If remixes are often divisive little blighters, especially when handling such promising material, LIL SAD has successfully crafted a shimmering rendition with lasting appeal.
