Brooklyn’s SZA floored us with her debut EP S earlier this year, a collection of sultry, delicate and utterly soulful RnB tracks which blew up in all the right places.
Her second extended player, Z, there’s a pattern developing, is scheduled for release in autumn, but we’re already being treated to some choice cuts from the record with ‘Julia’ and ‘Teen Spirit’ premiering this afternoon at Gorilla vs. Bear. Z producer Felix Snow reprises his role on ‘Julia’ alongside Dave Free, shining a sparky, ebullient pop spotlight on SZA’s delectable tones, with squirming synths and throbbing kicks buoying the Maplewood native’s smooth verses. Hands down one of our favourite new voices of 2013.
Check out ‘Julia’ and the trap-influenced ‘Teen Spirit’ below.
