Listen: Solar Year – Global Girlfriend
Exploring the glacial depths of some arctic city still uninhabited by mankind, Montreal duo, Solar Year unearth more than just snow covered terrain on their new single, ‘Global Girlfriend’.
Like the love child of Fever Ray and David Byrne, all grown up, Solar Year guides you through an introspective tour of the unknown through dark whirls of distortion, hymnal cries and fragmented reverb. Producer Ben Borden melds cacophonous synth with off kilter beats which shiver and writhe beneath singer David Ertel’s enigmatic words, adding a kindred touch to the track.
Which then abruptly ends– leaving you in the desolate confines of your own imagination, grasping for more.
Solar Year’s debut album, Waverly is out 25th June via Ceremony (US) / Splendour (EU).
