Listen: Solander – “All Opportunities”
Proving Sweden has a lot more to offer than the euphoric swells of scandipop, Malmö duo Solander have surfaced with the lead single from their forthcoming third album Monochromatic Memories, due out via Tenderversion in January 2014.
Coming just about as close to folk-pop perfection as anything we’ve ever heard, Fredrik Karlsson and Anja Linna’s “All Opportunities” is the kind of song you can breathe in. It’s the kind of song you can swim in, drink in and get completely lost in. It’s rich textural tapestry burns with a quiet intensity; biting lyrics are wrapped in stunning string arrangements, delicate percussion beats and delivered by smooth vocals as if to lull you into a false sense of security.
Once you’ve listened to “All Opportunities” the fact that Solander are currently on tour with José González’s band Junip will come as no surprise.
