Brooklyn’s Ski Lodge have returned with a new single in tow. ‘Just To Be Like You’ is set for release on Dovecote Records and picks up nicely where the four-piece signed off on their eponymous 2011 EP with another addictive serving of intricate guitar led indie pop.
‘Just To Be Like You’ carries all the hallmarks of a bona fide Postcard Records classic; a tinny rattle of snare, short bursts of precision bass and of course, a delicate wash of glimmering guitar makes for a captivating composition. Though palliative as the melody is, frontman Andrew Marr’s wounded sighs of ‘oh just to be like you’ refocus the ambience; transforming this breezy jig into the lament of a truly bruised heart.
