Listen: Sister Crayon – Cynic (Shigeto Remix) [Best Fit Premiere]
A master at deconstructing the beauty of a song and exposing the delicate veins that hold it all together, Ghostly International producer, Shigeto reworks duo Sister Crayon’s soulful exploration, ‘Cynic’.
The incredibly talented jazz drummer and producer Zachary Saginaw aka Shigeto, lends his magic to Terra Lopez’s delicate, snow-capped words, infusing sparse, crunchy distortion and soft rolling melodies that creep like a dark clouds just before a storm. Fidgety percussion and lackadaisical drumbeats carry drifting pleas off into the ether, creating a magical wonderland feel to ‘Cynic’.
But Saginaw’s true talent lies in his use of delicate percussion, twinkling bits of effects and a dusting of digital snowflakes that glisten in the light. Magical.
‘Cynic’ is the title track off Sister Crayon’s new EP, out this week via Fake Four Inc.
