Following their sold-out debut EP last year, New Zealand's up-and-coming shoegazers, Shunkan, are getting us jumping about to their persistently infectious track, "Our Names".
Entwining battering drums and breathless vocals may sound like an odd concept, but with Marina Sakimoto's infectious vocals, the breathless edge of her voice simply adds a sense of intimacy to the contagiously choppy track.
The fuzzy guitar tones drench us in a shoegaze haze, melting the listener into a distinct state of clarity. The raw-edged ferocity of the drums and the vigorous melody combine to create a two-minute blast of shoegaze goodness from the other side of the world.
'Our Names' is out via Art Is Hard Records on 13 April, and up for free download on Soundcloud. You can listen below.
