Listen: Seoul - "White Morning"
With last year’s “Stay With Us”, Montreal’s Seoul racked up over 75,000 plays despite the trio having only formed in July of that summer. With a self-released debut album I Become a Shade apparently in the works, (but with an as yet unknown release date) the elusive threesome continue to garner interest by way of their intricately carved, gently produced fuzz-pop that’s executed to upbeat perfection.
The airy, dreamy vocals on “White Morning” somewhat recall moments of early The Antlers’ releases, perhaps if The Antlers’ made music about the joy of waking up to a fresh dawn instead of hospices and terminal illness. With a mellow, lusciously simplistic arrangement that floats along the gentle vocals, “White Morning” proves that pleasant can be interesting, too. The track’s delicately hopeful atmosphere and feel-good punch of positive vibes is sure to be the perfect cure to the midweek blues that ail you.
Seoul embark on their first UK tour this May, full dates on their Facebook page.
