Listen: R I T U A L - “Amnesia (feat. Chester Watson)"
When “The Fall” appeared back in the summer is was immediately apparent R I T U A L were onto something. From its sparse production through the stunningly melancholic male vocal and string-based backing, the attention-grabbing release aligned the newcomers with the likes of SOHN - who even championed the track on his Radio One Residency - and more recently Aquilo.
Since then, it’s safe to say the enigmatic trio have gone from strength-to-strength: the icy, late-night “Visions” proved its predecessor was no fluke, while “Blood Flow” went one step further, upping the tempo and incorporating increasingly dancing beats to show-off gentle pop sensibilities.
With the release of “Amnesia” the London three have not only completed their debut EP, which borrows its name from the aforementioned initial outing, they have completely cemented themselves as a name to watch with a very keen eye into as we move into 2015. It makes sense as the final track as it embraces a carefully thought-out, loungey piano line beneath a typically assured vocal melody but brings in subtle guitar punctuation which doffs a cap to The xx.
Throw in a mood-filled verse from American rap hopeful Chester Watson and the fourth reason not to forget R I T U A L is complete.
'Amnesia' is the final track on the R I T U A L's debut EP 'The Fall' which is out now and available to buy on iTunes here.
