Listen: Quigley - "Post Post Apocalypse" [Premiere]
Minneapolis pop newcomer Quigley channels Bret Easton Ellis and jittery bubbletronica on her new single, "Post Post Apocalypse".
The electro-pop candy is pockmarked with darkness, as she sings of the end of the world, but partying the pain away instead of panicking. If there's ever a soundtrack for the End Of The World parties in The Rules Of Attraction, this is it.
A plethora of covers/mashups litter her Soundcloud (Lorde vs. The Who? Meatlof vs. Miley Cyrus?), but this new original effort sees her lunge into the pop world she's clearly enamoured with.
Speaking about the track, Quigley said:
"I remember thinking a lot at the time I was writing “Post Post Apocalypse" about how afraid everyone had been for 2012 (yes this was that long ago). There was this huge fuss about how it might be the end of the world. Then, the new year happened. It was 2013 and we were all like, "k... on with life?" I thought the world deserved a POST Post Apocalypse dance party. And that's why I wrote this song. It's a sort of way to laugh at our own mortality and the implications of being human and the fears we have about death. I encourage people to dance in the face of the unknown, not cower. And that's what Post Post Apocalypse is all about."
Quigley's Initium EP is out 8 May. For more information, head here.
