Joining Hudson Mohawke in Glasgow’s surge to the forefront of UK electro-pop are CHVRCHES-endorsed trio Prides, who unveiled their debut track ‘Out Of The Blue’ this month.
Building on the solid foundations of previous band Midnight Lion, Stuart and Lewis show competence in playfully adjoining classic pop influences with contemporary synth-centric bands like Passion Pit and current Best Fit faves Little Daylight to create bold, impossibly hooky sounds. A spiraling synthesizer riff and slender guitar strokes gravitate around the gigantic tom-toms and juddering bass drum thumps at the robust heart of the fizzy melody. With the addition of third man Callum, the Glaswegians have kicked it up a gear under the Prides banner and look set to take a seat next to their fellow Scots at the great pop feast of 2013.
