Listen: Plastic Crown – Eulogy/Blood
Next to nothing is known about Manchester solo artist Plastic Crown.
Believe it or not, the man above is not the wizard behind the Plastic Crown veil, Sam Price-Salisbury. He is, however, the perhaps unexpected special guest who appears on the first recorded titbits emerging from a computer somewhere in Manchester, with his idiosyncratic reading of his canonical first part of The Wasteland providing the only company to the mournful organ of ‘Eulogy’. Plastic Crown feels similarly disembodied in the context of anything ordinary, as the beauty of his spiritual hymnals drift in and out of focus, pining for something more transcendent. Though titbits is all they are now, the rich niche they occupy seems instilled with an ambient melancholia that acts as an incredibly striking introduction. As a disciple at the font of subversion that is SWAYS’ Salford bunker, the development of this tell-tale heart is under promising mentorship.
It requires patience, but Price-Salisbury has an undeniable knack for drawing you in to his hazy fug. Listen to his first two grapples with his demons below.
