It’s always exciting when something comes along that takes the best bits from two genres and squishes them together, but it can be problematic, it takes bravery. Oxford-based Pixel Fix may have just pulled it off, and pulled it off rather nicely.
‘Rosa’ opens like any another sumptuous piece of chillwave; all watery, wave-like ambience, with that slow distinctive beat and relaxed vocal. You are lulled into a comfort zone, allowing this track to wash over you, albeit to very enjoyable effect. However, explosions of guitar and percussion force your ears to prick up, demanding attention. We are all looking for guitar bands, but there is so much exciting electro around; this track presents an exciting question – perhaps we can have both?
