Listen: Petite Meller - "Baby Love (The Very Best remix)"
Another week, another great remix of Petite Meller’s “Baby Love”. Last time around, we brought you an excellent rework by London’s Kiwi, which stripped the song back to its most danceable bones. This latest interpretation by The Very Best stands in stark contrast, filling every available space with new (and recycled) sounds.
The piano of the original has been tossed, sure, as has the handmade djembe beat. But they’re replaced with a lush cacophony of synths, acoustic rhythms, and driving drums that manage to subtly shift the overall tone, granting a sense of whimsical nostalgia not present in the original. It’s enough to make the hair on the back of your neck bristle.
Listen below, and be sure to check out the NYC-inspired playlist Meller shared with us earlier this week as well.
