Listen: Peaking Lights – Dream Beat (Romare Remix)
Black Acre Records’ production star, Romare adds a sensuous, worldly flair to Peaking Lights’ latest single, ‘Dream Beat’.
If it weren’t for the smokin’ hot babe in Peaking Lights video for ‘Dream Beat’, the winner of this round would have to be Romare. Turning up the sex appeal and smoothing out the variegated quirks, the London producer, inspired by West African rhythms, adds body gripping bass, a sultry congregation of percussion, and appropriates perfectly plucked fragments of singer Indra Dunis’ words back into the duo’s erratic track.
Come hither claps act as the bassline just long enough for a slinking, sinister beat to make its way through heated tension, bringing ‘Dream Beat’ full circle and encapsulating that wild psychedelic feel Peaking Lights has taught to obsess over.
Romare’s remix of ‘Dream Beat’ appears on Peaking Lights’ Lucifer Re Lit release, featuring two tracks from the duo’s Lucifer LP remixed by four different producers. The digital only album is out now via Weird World Records.
