Listen: Pále and Joshua Idehen – Playing Truant
Manchester-bred production whiz Pále has offered up a mouth-watering preview of his forthcoming EP by way of title track ‘Playing Truant’.
A collaboration with spoken word artist Joshua Idehen, ‘Playing Truant’ finds Pále plumbing more of those deep, comforting spaces first explored on last year’s Catacombs EP. Producer Leo Marcus’ vibrant synth arpeggios scatter dewy notes over a canopy of softly thudding bass drum and skittering hi-hats. While Idehen’s poignant preacher’s vocal grows with revelatory assurance becoming a rapturous sermon, surfing on a wave of spritely beats and shuddering piano chords.
‘Bravery isn’t easy, else everyone would do it‘ declares the poet, his clear tones instilled with a tangible air of confidence; listening to this gorgeous melange of traditional and contemporary sonics, brave is certainly the operative word.
The track is available to download from 6 May with the 7″ Playing Truant scheduled for a June release , both on GETME! Records.
