Listen: Only Real – “Cadillac Girl” (Harry Fraud Remix)
West London laptop producer and songwriter Only Real unveils “Cadillac Girl”, this time as a bass-heavy stunner with new age classic hip hop producer Harry Fraud taking the reigns.
Wearing loose clothes and having an affinity for skateboarding, Only Real has been building hype for over a year now with his catchy slacker tracks that serve to cement him as England’s answer to Californian beach-punk band, Wavves. Like any young musician with access to computer software, Only Real seems to know his musical roots, professing a love for left-of-mainstream hip hop.
It makes sense then that “Cadillac Girl” sees him team up with Harry Fraud, the man responsible for catapulting Action Bronson to fame with his old-school production style. Although marrying Only Real’s laid back London vocals with beats that recall golden age New York hip hop may seem out of place in theory, “Cadillac Girl” is a light, fun-filled affair infused with a sense of youthful innocence.
“Cadillac Girl” is out on 12 May via Harvest Records (US) and Virgin EMI (UK).
