Listen: Niva – “Forest View” [Premiere]
Emerging from the ashes of the chillwave boom, Stockholm’s Christian Niva returns with “Forest View” – the follow up to 2011′s Feverish Dream mini-album.
Still firmly planted in the same dream pop club as Memory Tapes, Washed Out and Neon Indian – Niva trumps his American contemporaries with an honest and knowing knack for a classic pop melody: fusing both mood and feeling meticulously.
On “Forest View”, Niva takes the original blueprint of tranquil, textured beats that were present throughout Feverish Dream and fuses with a more straight ahead verse / chorus / verse song structure.
Having recently signed with Swedish indie stalwarts Hybris, Niva will release a new EP later this winter – more news on that in due course. For now, listen to the subtle beauty of “Forest View” and watch the accompanying video, below.
