Listen: New! Wilco! Stream 'I Might' and 'I Love My Label'
We’ve been gingerly waiting for the first fruits of Wilco‘s eighth studio album since the influential Chicago based troupe announced details of new single ‘I Might’ a week or so back. Originally thought to be called Get Well Soon Everybody but confirmed yesterday as The Whole Love, it’s due to drop at some point in September via the bands freshly launched record label dBpm.
Copies of the lead-off single ‘I Might’ became available this weekend for attendees of the bands second annual Solid Sound Festival that’s currently taking place in North Adams, Massachusetts. The rest of us can get our hands on a copy from July 18, head over to the official Wilco store to pre-order a copy now.
Stream the single in full below which features a sterling rendition of Nick Lowe’s ‘I Love My Label’. It’s too early to tell if The Whole Love will see a return to form for the band after 2009′s fairly disappointing Wilco (The Album) failed to live up to expectation. If ‘I Might’ is anything to go by, the immediate, tightly wound pop of A Ghost Is Born-era (namely ‘I’m A Wheel’ and ‘Kicking Television’) returns and by the sounds of it, Jeff Tweedy has got some of that old venom back in his boots.
