Listen: Nadine Shah – Dreary Town
Nadine Shah only signed with R&S imprint Apollo Records earlier this week but the North East born songstress has wasted no time in unveiling the first track from her forthcoming EP of the same name, Dreary Town.
The set opener when Best Fit caught Nadine’s wonderful show at Blacks in December, ‘Dreary Town’ builds on the foundations of her critically acclaimed 2012 EP, Aching Bones. It’s a tempestuous piano ballad littered with cheeky colloquialisms, enunciated in her emotionally incisive brogue. Nadine is one of those rare talents capable of bottling the lip-quivering pathos of her live show before committing it to record; ‘Dreary Town’ like every other track poured from her soul is simple, brutal and utterly enchanting.
The Dreary Town EP is out on 15 April through Apollo Records.
