Listen: Monument Valley – Round and Round

It’s fragile singer-songwriter day on The Line Of Best Fit today. Monument Valley is not, as the name would suggest, some sort of expansive dustbowl Americana project. Instead, it is a catchy-but-downbeat solo project, new-ish but remarkably fully formed; all hushed tones and melancholy. It is to their credit that Monument Valley have jettisoned the standard acoustic format in favour of a full-band setup. It is the lush arrangement, coupled with the half-whispered vocal, that makes this so compulsive.
