It’s fair to say that Modeselektor‘s Monkeytown might well be the most-anticipated record of the rest of the year. On the forthcoming album the Berlin duo, who have transcended techno to become a genuine popular phenomenon, have taken the bite of the live show and mixed it with immediate, intelligent songwriting to make some of their very best work.
We have already streamed clips of Monkeytown – and now the first full track has appeared. ‘Pretentious Friends’ demonstrates the playful side of the record, with Busdriver’s inimitable, frankly ridiculous vocals certain to raise a smile. Excuse the irritating anti-piracy beeps.
