MØ teams up with Charli XCX and more on Radio 1’s Hottest Record “Drum”
When you’ve not only got a Justin Bieber collaboration under your belt, but you’re also the voice of the most streamed track in the world, it must be hard to know where to go next. Fortunately for us, Danish popstar MØ still seems to have plenty of ideas.
New track “Drum” debuted on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the world. With co-writing credits from the inimitable Charli XCX, Noonie Bao, and BloodPop (who doubles up on production duties), it’s no wonder that MØ’s smashed it out of the park again.
“Drum is about setting each other free,” she explains. “Whether it's an old friend, a lover, a lifetime partner, or even yourself; it’s about letting go in order to pursue your dreams, for better or worse. Sometimes we have to accept that we might not have a plan, but that we have to figure out our own shit - take the punches and get stronger - and the same goes for those we care about.
