Italian-born producer Andrea Tirone aka Mind Enterprises makes mildly paranoid-feeling dance music from the comfort of his London bedroom.
Debut single, ‘Summer War’ dropped on Double Denim nearly a year ago, its awkwardly chiming percussive and string elements garnered the Turin native an excitable throng of new followers, who were then treated to… absolutely nothing, until ‘My Girl’ that is.
The first track taken from his forthcoming debut EP of the same name, ‘My Girl’ is a cut and paste of hollow snare ticks, drooling synthesizers and buzzing basslines; a jaunty electro-pop nodding canvas to which Andrea applies his controlled yet mellow falsetto. Packed-out with trembling breaks and vitalising over-dubbed sighs of “will you be my girl/and will you follow me blind”, ’My Girl’ may have taken some careful deliberation but you can’t argue that Mind Enterprises has spent his downtime very wisely indeed.
The My Girl EP is released via Because Music on July 15. Londoners head to The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington on July 16 for the launch party.
