Manchester born Marc Rigelsford, better known as Magic Arm, returns with this wistful beauty from second album, Images Rolling.
The chiming piano tones that accompany the humming into life of ‘Warning Sign’ start in not dissimilar fashion to Sigur Ros, but Rigelsford undercuts their sense of grandeur with the intimacy of a lower budget, and living room warmth. Its patient charm wafts through a hue of 60′s psychedlia with a wistful glow, gently buffeted by its nostalgic sway. No longer ripping apart early LCD Soundsystem tracks, the songwriter now shows his ability for finding the woozy middle ground between summer vibes and solitude, escapism and direct poignancy.
Its sense of shutting yourself from the outside world, and revelling in rurality, and memory, creates a fragile beauty that is more than comfortable to relax into. Take four minutes off and roll away in the nuances of the track below.
