Listen: Los Porcos – Sunshine
Since WU LYF split up last year, all four members of the Manchester band have entered new projects. Los Porcos is the work of drummer Joe Manning, bassist Tom McClung and guitarist Evans Kati, while singer Ellery James Roberts has gone on to create anthemic, expansive sounds under his own name.
The obvious ability to write brilliant pop songs that WU LYF had hasn’t gone anywhere; just been given a bit of a tweak. The band’s intense, politically charged sound has been relaxed, left to bake in the midday sun, drenched in tie-dye, and come out sounding like this. The chorus of ‘you make me feel, alriiight’, and refrain ‘we’ll be dancing til the break of dawn’, make it feel like these last heady days of August really can last forever.
‘Sunshine’ is to be released along with ’C.F.W.’ as a AA-side single, via Caledonia Records on 15 September.
