Listen: Loney dear reveals My Heart from new album Hall Music
“No sadness, no dissapointments”. And so it goes, the return of Loney dear is that of an old familar friend who you only have the pleasure of seeing once every couple of years. Hall Music, LD’s sixth album has been announced today and sees Emil Svanängen return to his original UK home of Something In Construction – the label that released the commercial debut album Sologne, a release that very much shaped The Line Of Best Fit back in 2006 when we first launched.
‘Loney Blues’ was the first taster from Hall Music and appeared online back at the start of the year amongst a collection put out by Something In Construction. ‘My Heart’ sees Svanängen excel to new heights of production and songsmithery. With a heavy emotional weight, the song builds subtly over the course of its three and a half minutes; chiming church bells emerge at the crescendo hitting that part of your being that forces lip to quiver and goosebumps to rise. It’s always been there, a trademark of LD’s incredible knack of mixing simple melody, phrasing and timing but here it’s never been so raw and knowing.
Of course, a new Loney dear record wouldn’t be complete without some sort of expectation of live shows. We spoke to Emil last week and he had this to say about taking Hall Music out on the road: “The band is atomized for the moment but I’m sure well play together again soon. Right now doors are open and the fields are wide. Looking forward to play for people again so much.”
