Light Heat is a new Philadelphia based pop project fronted up by ex-Mazarin man Quentin Stoltzfus. The band are streaming two cuts from their eponymous debut, ‘And The Birds…’ and ‘The Mirror’, ahead of its release on 25 June.
While the latter is a strung out blues tinted number punctuated by penetrating cyclical snare thuds, ‘And The Birds’ is an altogether more joyous piece comprised of giddy piano chords, subtly ticking percussion and layers of Stoltzfus’ wistful vocal. Light Heat are sure to delight fans whose love affair with The Walkmen began with the warm, melodic pop sensibilities developed on Lisbon.
