Leon Bridges has a tendency to unknowingly wrap his listeners round his finger. His blissful, Sam Cooke-esque, soulful voice is certainly a winner, especially on "Lisa Sawyer", his latest passion-pressing track.
The resurgence of soul that the 27-year-old has brought to 2015 is extremely admirable. "Lisa Sawyer" is an instant dip into the 1940s and '50s, which instantly sweeps you into a fog so gentle and tranquil that you can almost see the modern day slowly disappearing. The delicate doo-wops and bops blend perfectly with Leon's voice, creating a creamy four-minute daydream that is undoubtedly refreshing. The saxaphone adds succulent drops of seduction to the instant classic, and it's petrifyingly exciting to see such a game changer in today's industry. "Lisa Sawyer" makes the dullest objects glisten, and it is, without a doubt, a four-minute diversion that I'd happily visit often.
