Listen: King of Cats – Bright Lightbulbs
Two of the Reeks of Effort gang’s finest emerging talents, Ides and King of Cats, are throwing their respective lo-fi lots in for a split single release via the staunchly DIY collective’s imprint.
Titled I Like What You Say, the limited edition 7″ release will feature Ides’ ‘Chokehold’ and this one from King of Cats. ‘Bright Lightbulbs’ forefronts Max Levy’s scattershot vocal technique, even more so than the comparatively toned down ‘Ulcers’, with the Oxford songwriter tearing every last ounce of febrile energy out of his lungs and splattering it across blood-vessel-popping percussion and despondent guitar brushstrokes. Sweetly uncomfortable listening.
Pre-order I Like What You Say here ahead of its 9 September release.
