There’s been a flurry of awfully twee-sounding band names raising their heads on Bandcamp these past few months, all of which making blog-trawling seem like you’ve been invited to a picnic by Vampire Weekend and are sharing red fizzy pop and supermarket-branded crisps with Alphabeat.
Kindness could be mistakenly ridiculed for this, sounding like a side project John Lennon and Yoko Ono could have come up with in one of their bed-ridden good-will-and-opium binges.
But the cover art cuts out this misconception right away. I mean, clenched fists don’t really denote helping little old ladies go first in the check-out queue.
New single ‘Cyan’, streaming below, is a right ol’ banger of electro-funk proportions – showing the clear markings of Phoenix producer Phillipe Zdar.
‘Cyan’ is out 25 October on Terrible Records in the US and Female Energy in the UK.
