Listen: Kidnap Kid – “Stronger”
Black Butter Records continue their assault on the mainstream, delivering Kidnap Kid’s latest – yet another dance-inducing cut tinged with the melodic sensibilities that are serving the likes of touring partners Disclosure and label-buddies Gorgon City so well.
The Sheffield producer – real name Matt Relton – hits the emotionally-charged deep-house nail on the head with “Stronger”: a six-and-a-half minute combination of clockwork beats, eerie vocal samples and a piano refrain that is as hypnotising as it is satisfyingly simple, all bolstering the seductive vocal calls of “I should be stronger”.
Love from Radio 1′s Annie Mac and support slots with the chart-topping Clean Bandit, alongside this new effort, all signal very exciting things for another of the UK’s brilliant school of young producers.
