Listen: Johan Agebjörn - "The Leftovers" (ft. Loney Dear) [Premiere]
Known to most Scandi pop aficionados as one half of pop duo Sally Shapiro, Johan Agebjörn has announced details of a new solo record - Notes - that's set for release through Paper Bag Records in February of next year.
Shying away from the italo-disco flavour of Shapiro material, on Notes Agebjörn weaves a dreamy mix of melancholia. Although mostly instrumental, Notes features a handful of guest vocalists including Canada's Young Galaxy and perhaps most notably, one Emil Svanängen of Loney Dear.
Having been relatively quiet on the release front ever since 2011's Hall Music, Svanängen makes a rare (but welcome) outing on album track "The Leftovers", his pensive vocal the perfect accompaniment to the dark, brooding nature of the song.
Notes is released through Paper Bag Records on February 10. Pre-order the record here.
