Listen: Jaymes Young – Hold You Down [Best Fit Premiere]
Having come to our attention recently with the soulful twists and turns of his bass heavy track ‘Dark Star’, recent Warner/Chappell signing Jaymes Young has given us an exclusive first look at the poppier edges of new track ‘Hold You Down.’
Whereas ‘Dark Star’ found itself tied together with warbling synths, this lighter number pivots around a jangly guitar hook and pulls its focus in on the young LA based artist’s smooth, fresh vocals. With each new track, Jaymes seems to be bringing something a little different to the table.
With a far more relaxed pace, ‘Hold You Down’ is less about lurching late night club beats and more about euphoric summer anthemics, though its still perfectly understated; its grounded sensual sonics are accompanied by lyrics dealing with regret, and the bitterness that comes with the end of a relationship.
