Listen: Jay Brown - "Green" [Premiere]
Northampton singer-songwriter Jay Brown is sharing her latest cut "Green" exclusively on Best Fit.
It's a world away from prior tune "Diamond", and Brown eschews the atmospheric folk in favour of Torres or St. Vincent-sized rock sounds. It's not a cut that sits still, instead veering between gruff-throated malice, and sweetly lilting coos, it's a jarring turn, but one that proves the extente of Brown's talent and ability to shine away from her acoustic toolset. It actually - probably - harks back to her sonic roots, when she was the frontwoman in a "Skunk Anansie-style shouty rock band".
Brown's My Name Is Her EP is released 23 February via Turn First. She's also throwing a launch gig at London's Waiting Rooms on the same day, and you can grab tickets here.
