Listen: Jamie Grind – Something You Should Know
Leeds-based beatmaker Jamie Grind has unveiled a brand new track in the form of ‘Something You Should Know’. With more than a faint air of 90s garage, the strength of the tune seems to indicate Grind has found his niche after tinkering with a host of other genres in the past; both originals and reworks.
Rather than riding the coattails of current UK dance rubric – Julio Bashmore, Bondax and particularly Disclosure – ‘Something You Should Know’ stands shoulder-to-shoulder on its own merit; with effervescent pops of synthesizer, sugarcoated female vocal loops, liquid bass lurches and jittery percussion all key to his defining sound. Streaked with provocative R&B flair, Grind’s bold rhythmic quirks, have got us all hot under the collar ahead of his next EP release.
