Listen: Ifan Dafydd – Celwydd (feat. Alys Williams)
It’s been a year since Welsh producer, Ifan Dafydd has released new material not involving some sort of remix. This week Dafydd quietly dropped the stunning single below, to be featured on the forthcoming vinyl compilation on Recordiau Lliwgar due out in April.
Lush progressions of intertwined vocals take turns exchanging flirty glances at one another among a blooming garden of piano twinkles, bouncy clicks and pops, and a rolling, buzzing bassline pushing this game of cat and mouse playfully along.
A track that carries Ifan’s signature, soaking-wet-in-all-your-clothes, heavy feeling, coupled with delicately plucked samples and snippets, and pitched down vocals, and yet ‘Celwydd’ feels more complex and well, complete than anything we’ve heard from Dafydd thus far. Watching young producers evolve is really something isn’t it? Get ready to be swept away.
