Listen: Iain Woods - "Fiend" [Premiere]
Earlier this year Iain Woods - formerly Psychologist - wowed us with a little ditty named "When Particles Collide". He went on to drop other tracks like "Worlds Away" and "Bella", ,
Now we've got "Fiend", a berserk-pop melee with dark Vaudevillian keys, soulful vox and screwed-up bass. It's bizarre and sketchy, but inside this tangled knot of dislocated elements, there's something that's ultimately fascinating, and keeps us on tenterhooks for its entire duration.
Woods will also be premiering his new album psychologist - as in streaming it live from his listening party - exclusively on Best Fit on New Year's Eve, so check back in for that.
psychologist is described by Woods as "a Trash-Pop romp through an existential crisis", and is the follow-up to 2011's Epidural Collection EP. Fans of Clarence Clarity or Meanwhile will probably want to keep an eye on Woods and his new album. It's released proper in January 2015 via his own Lovely Face for Radio label.
