Listen: Hockeysmith - "Hesitate"
Dark and brooding with a frantic, almost drug fuelled tone, new track ‘Hesitate’ by Cornwall-based duo Hockeysmith is a rabid and enigmatic listen.
The follow up to the stellar music video for ‘But Blood’ released back in February, ‘Hesitate’ is one of those engaging tracks that doesn’t quite match the reality of the band. Outside of their music, Hockeysmith is made up of sisters Annie & Georgie who grew up on a caravan on a farm in Cornwall. However, on record Hockeysmith become a frenetic mix of emotionally dense synth lines, cutting guitars lines in the vein of Sleigh Bells & haunting emotive vocals that recall Beth Gibbons at her prime.
‘Hesitate’ showcases this perfectly. It’s a rip-roaring track that will reach out and drag you away by the hand, but you’ll have to wait until May 26 when the band’s debut EP But Blood is released on Double Denim Records.
