Listen: Goodbye Chanel – Kalifornia
-
As the end of summer approaches, Newcastle based tropical-pop artist Goodbye Chanel, aka Scott Johnson, is doing his best to lighten the mood with ‘Kalifornia’, the second release from his forthcoming EP Through Night to Paradise.
The irresistible ringing of the layered synths and guitars immediately invokes desirable, sweltering visions so sugary and dreamy, they leave you feeling free and on a youthful high. The ghostly vocals work brilliantly too, providing a new level of exotic other-worldliness, whilst hypnotic high pitched riffs and rich harmonies create an atmosphere of hedonism, close to the summery mirages of Crystal Fighters and Craft Spells.
Through Night to Paradise is available for download from 12 August on Bandcamp.
