New York recording artist Corey Coffman laid down tracks on his debut release Death Sky, Soft Eye in between shifts working at Brooklyn’s Atlantic Sound Studios. Coffman’s talent for blending hazy effects laden guitar parts with chugging drum beats has truly blossomed since taking up the Gleemer moniker and new track ‘Tarantula’ may well be the most well-rounded addition to his arsenal thus far.
While many modern shoegazers lose their originality in paying homage to MBV; Gleemer (presumably named after an excellent Guided By Voices track) leans more gently on his influences, capturing a perfect, dreamy snapshot of the movement in foamy waves of quivering tremolo and lovesick vocals. All of Gleemer’s work to date can be downloaded for free via his Soundcloud page.
