Listen: Francis Lung – “A Selfish Man”
Former WU LYF bassist Tom McClung delivers sullen introspectiveness within breezy guitar pop under solo moniker Francis Lung.
Much like project Los Porcos, Lung delicately paints his sound with the whitewash sheen of groove induced euphoria. However, beneath the glossy veneer, Lung’s reflective lyricism dwells upon the sudden demise of heavy pop giants WU LYF at the hands of frontman Ellery Roberts.
Despite this, the boldness and resonating clarity expressed within “A Selfish Man” presents a conflicting disposition. It’s a song of rumination, yet also of colourful exuberance, brightly displayed by nimble guitar and punchy melodies.
“A Selfish Man” will be released on 7” on French label Atelier Ciseaux on 16 January.
