Something akin to Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Disclosure collaborating on a disco homage, ‘Love Don’t Live Here’ is quite the one-off cover from Notting Hill by way of Canada producer, Forrest.
Originally written by Miles Gregory and recorded by fellow Motown regulars Rose Royce, of ’Car Wash’ repute, in 1978, ‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’ has been covered by a number of artists before Forrest, who provides his own vocals, including but obviously not limited to Madonna.
One of the first songs to effectively use sound reverbs and a drum machine, there’s a lot of history attached to the original track but Forrest handles it deftly and the result is a tender and deeply grooved tune, ideal for early hours club mischief.
