Listen: Fjord Morrison – Late After Dark
Left alone with our own thoughts can often be a nerve wracking, somewhat eerie feeling, but once you get past the fact that no words need to be spoken, the introspection takes on a new role, almost like a sixth sense. Distant clanks of muffled sounds become piercingly concise, as if exerting their energies directly at you. The way the night whistles against a hollow chill will be engrained in your psyche for all eternity. The same urban landscape you pass by everyday feels more connected, personal– as if plotting an unpaved path only a few steps ahead of you.
Through his three original tracks and three stellar remixes, the mysterious Fjord Morrison has managed to illicit those exact vibes on his debut EP Old Tendency. A downtempo therapy session led by nature-inspired samples, bubbling basslines that rumble with catchy vocal loops, and whirling dark effects capturing the essence of your own brooding egoism.
In addition to Fjord’s debut single ‘Late After Dark’, we’ve also included our favorite remix of the bunch, an edit of the track ‘So Mad’, by emerging producer, Druid Cloak.
The mysterious Fjord Morrison’s Old Tendency EP, out on March 26 (tomorrow) via Hush Hush Records.
