Listen: Evenings – Friend [Lover]
The EP that became the soundtrack for so many endless summer nights, igniting a cult following of fans across the globe, North Dorm, is finally getting the proper release it deserves. Virgina’s Nathan Broaddus, aka Evenings recently announced his signing to LA’s Friends of Friends Records, and today he announced he will be re-releasing the EP that started it all. The forthcoming release will also include tracks from Broaddus’ cinematic 2011 self-release Lately. Drawing comparisons to one of the rare acts able to contruct entire moods out of electronic compositions, Bonobo, Evenings’ Yore LP is something not to be missed.
Turning vocal arrangements of hushed fragmented words, rippling drum patterns and harmonic bells into a watercolor painting of one perfect instance in time, Broaddus picks up where many producers stop short. Building off the fantastic ambient world of textural moods that melt so effortlessly into one another Bonobo has spent a decade creating, Evenings is the next to join the exclusive group of atmosphere engineers, constructing night skies and tender embraces out of the most delicate of sounds.
If you were lucky enough to hear to Evenings’ enveloping North Dorm and Lately albums the first time around, it’s still well worth your effort to spend time with his re-mastered work. For those new to Evenings’ musc, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Evenings’ Yore LP is due out on April 16th on FoF.
