New York’s Emily King makes a welcome return with new single “Distance.”
The jazzy acoustic that opens and closes the song suggests a dreamy road not taken, but sandwiched in between is a bouncy retro-soul stunner. Guitars pop perfectly on beat, and King sounds effortless as she makes the argument that time spent apart can be just as valuable for lovers as that spent together. This parallels King’s own relationship with her listeners; her first proper release since 2012, “Distance” represents her best work yet, and serves as a welcome reward to her fans.
“Distance” is available for download on Soundcloud.
